Broken

One of my 2mm Harmonies broke the other night; I’ve glued it back together, but there are rough spots that won’t slide through the stitches.  I’m thinking I may put tape over the join just till I’m done with this sock, and then I can order another set before I start a new pair of socks.  I do have other projects I can work on in the meantime…

Poor Planning

I poked my nose outside at lunch and quickly retreated back into the building; it is chilly out there and I really wish I’d worn a jacket or sweater.  If I’m going out this evening I’m going to have to put socks on, too.

I think we’re going to be having a long winter.

Serendipity

The other day it was borne in upon me that the pile of books next to my bed had gotten too big when Sebastian accidentally caused an avalanche by putting one paw on top of the pile.  So I decided it was time to find a better home for the books, if only so that Liam could get to his closet without having to shuffle sideways.  So I moved the books.

In the course of moving the books, I had to move some things that were in the spot where I wanted to put them, and thus I had to find a new home for the things as well.  And some of them were sewing-related, so they went in with the sewing stuff, which involved moving a bag with some sock yarn in it…and there, in the bag, was the second skein of sock yarn that I’d been tearing apart the living room in search of for the last week and a half.

Thus, the cathedral windows quilting experiment is being sidelined while I finish a pair of socks.  It wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the book avalanche.

I Don’t Have to Knit…

…I can stop any time I want.

And if more places sold wool thigh-high stockings, I would be ecstatic.  The only brand I’ve found so far is called Levant; they’re only 70% wool, but that’s sure better than nothing.  I shall have to keep an eye out, as winter approaches.

I like wearing skirts.  I have a lovely wool skirt for the winter, and some nice charcoal grey to make another, but there’s only so much even the warmest skirt can do for the lower legs.  This is where the stockings come in.   And since I’ll take any excuse whatsoever to wear a garter belt, stockings rather than tights are the way to go.  The kind that has sticky stuff on the inside that’s supposed to keep them from falling?  You really have to wear a garter belt anyway, but the sticky stuff gets very irritating (which is too bad, because I love these).

In a pinch, tights are great, but I’d really rather have stockings…

Me, Obsessive?

So I posted that thing about Zentangles the other day, and ever since?  Well, I’ve got this little blank book I bought a few years ago, that’s been sitting on a shelf waiting for something to be worthy of it.

Four pages are now covered in random doodles, otherwise known as “Zentangles”.  I dunno if the whole book’s going to get filled up, or if there’s going to be text, but I know what it feels like when I get into something and this is totally it.  I even forgot to bring my cathedral windows quilt with me to work today.

Long Time No Talk

It occurs to me that I really should do some more with Kalis, my triconsonontal-root language.  It’s up to translating short sentences; there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to polish it up a bit and have it up to snuff relatively quickly.

I should migrate its old posts over here, too, while I’m at it.

Just a Little Advertising

I dunno who the curator is, but I like hir taste in creepy.  Also, who doesn’t love a title like “Elucidation of the Seasonally Noir“?
